Former President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on Fox News and Paul Ryan, a member of the board of its parent company, in a post on his Truth Social platform. Trump criticized Fox News, stating that with Paul Ryan, whom he labeled a “weak and ineffective RINO,” on its board, the network cannot be trusted.
Trump described Paul Ryan as a “total lightweight,” criticizing his tenure as Speaker of the House and branding him as disloyal. He also took aim at Ryan’s past criticisms of him, particularly Ryan’s characterization of Trump as an “authoritarian narcissist” and his condemnation of Trump’s actions regarding the January 6th Capitol attack and the 2020 election results.
Despite Ryan’s recent interview on Fox News with Neil Cavuto, where he reiterated his concerns about Trump’s character and actions, Trump asserted that Ryan and others like him are detrimental to the network’s credibility.
He’s a total lightweight, a failed and pathetic Speaker of the House, and a very disloyal person. Romney was bad, but Paul Ryan made him look worse. As a team, they never had a chance. Rupert and Lachlan, get that dog off your Board – You don’t need him. ALL YOU NEED IS TRUMP. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
“That’s pretty strong,” Cavuto said of Ryan’s past criticisms of Trump.
“That’s the way I feel,” Ryan replied. “I voted for him in 2016, hoping that there was gonna be a different kind of person in office. And I do think character is a really important issue. If you put yourself above the Constitution as he has done that shows you’re unfit for office.”
