Former “Bob’s Burgers” voice actor Jay Johnston, aged 55, has pleaded guilty to a federal charge related to his involvement in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The charge of civil disorder, a felony, carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, although sentencing guidelines suggest he may face between eight to 14 months. Johnston’s sentencing is scheduled for October 7.
In addition to his voice work on “Bob’s Burgers,” Johnston has appeared in films such as “Anchorman,” “Men in Black II,” and television series including “Better Call Saul” and “Mr. Show with Bob and David.”
Johnston’s legal journey began with his arrest in Los Angeles on June 7, 2023, after being sought by the FBI since March 2021. He was initially released on $25,000 bail and subsequently agreed to plead guilty. His involvement in the Capitol breach included charges of obstruction of law enforcement duties, entering a restricted area, and hampering government business, as detailed in court documents.
