During a recent interview with the New York Post, former President Donald Trump confirmed that a chunk of his ear is missing following the July 13, 2024, shooting incident at his campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania via Tribune.
Trump was protected by a white bandage over his ear, and detailed his injuries, including a large bruise on his forearm from hitting the ground. “They took him out with one shot right between the eyes. They did a fantastic job,” Trump said, praising the Secret Service for their swift action.
Trump had revealed that he was hit so hard by the Secret Service rushing to protect him that his shoes fell off. He wanted to continue speaking, but he had to leave the stage.
The shooting by Thomas Matthew Crooks resulted in the death of Corey Comperatore and injuries to two other attendees. Trump announced his intention to attend Comperatore’s funeral and commended the rally attendees for staying calm, stating, “I love them. They are such great people.”
The FBI is investigating the incident, with Crooks’ motives still unknown. It has been noted that The Secret Service had already been under investigation by House Oversight Committee Republicans for several months when a bullet came within inches of killing former President Trump, killed a bystander, and injured at least two others at a rally in Pennsylvania Saturday afternoon.
Trump and his family members credited the special agents and a counter-sniper assigned to his protective detail with saving his life and possibly many others but recriminations against the Secret Service started almost immediately after the assassination attempt.
