AEW Star Open To Steroids Returning To Wrestling

AEW Announcer and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross said he is open to PED’s returning to wrestling in a safe fashion with good doctors treating their patients, though not anything related to pain management. Steroids and HGH were prominent in wrestling up until the late 2000’s after the deaths of Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero.

Jim Ross said on Grilling JR, “Are the [Harlem] Globetrotters tested? I don’t know these answers. I’m not as hung up on monitoring that as some think I would be as an old school guy, if it’s under doctors care which it should be, it has to be. If you’re freelancing drugs, you’re in the wrong period. No matter what.”

I guess I’m a little bit more lenient on it than a lot of guys, which doesn’t include pain management. I’m not talking about that, I’m just talking about PEDs. I don’t have a big issue with them, but I don’t think they should be used in the freelance mode. Doctors care constantly so we know if you have a heart issue or don’t, things of that nature.”

Wrestling Inc transcribed JR’s comments. While JR has been critical at times of some of the workrate in AEW like referee spots, not monitoring tags, and dumb jumps into groups of wrestlers, he has praised the company as the best place he has ever worked and discussed how much he likes Tony Khan.
