AEW could be roping in a WWE RAW star. The Night 1 of WWE Draft took place on this week’s edition of SmackDown and it will continue on Monday Night RAW. The draft has already started to shake up the roster. Now during a discussion about the draft, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter talked about WWE star Chad Gable and said that there are friends of his that want him to leave WWE and sign with Tony Khan’s company. Chad Gable to sign with AEW?
Meltzer said:
“Chad’s always awesome. He’s always awesome. A lot of people – I know a lot of his friends want him to go to AEW and I don’t know what the contract situation is for him but he’s been so misused or buried or whatever that it’s almost like you bring him – but I think he would be absolutely phenomenal in AEW. He’s phenomenal now.”
Gable had signed with WWE back in 2013 and was pushed during his days in NXT as part of American Alpha with Jason Jordan but he has not found the same success on the main roster. In 2019, the decision was made to repackage him as “Shorty G” but that name was dropped last year and he is now in the Alpha Academy tag team with Otis. They were moved to Monday Night Raw during the WWE Draft on Friday.
Bryan Danielson(Daniel Bryan in WWE) and others had also pushed to do more with Gable because his in-ring work is seemingly similar to the stature of WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. We will have to see if he would signing a deal with AEW soon.
