AJ Styles Says He Made A Great Decision To Join WWE, Instead Of Returning To TNA

In late 2015, TNA reached out to AJ Styles about coming back on TNA’s debut on Pop TV in early January, but the two sides could not reach a deal. TNA also reached out to the Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson about joining the promotion, but they as well could not reach a deal.

TNA issued a statement at the time claiming that they agreed and signed deals with all three talents listed above, but then the three stars decided not go through with the deal in December. Styles then joined WWE in January.

Styles recently spoke with Brian Fritz to promote WrestleMania 32 and commented on the situation with TNA.

“I had signed a letter of intent,” Styles said. “I agreed to ‘this is what you said you were going to pay me, so you can send it to legal,’ there was no contract whatsoever involved. What we signed was nothing. It was not a contract in any shape or form.”

“I thought they did a great job of making themselves look like crap by putting out that statement,” Styles said. “Just let it go. Things didn’t work out. From what I’m hearing, man did I make a great decision coming here. I’m not shameful of what I’ve done in the past with another company, but I’m disappointed.”

Styles wrestles Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 32.
