– The storyline between Rey Mysterio and CM Punk that has involved his family was suggested to the WWE creative team by Rey Mysterio and was actually the idea of another wrestler. Mysterio’s daughter Alliyah is a model and actress so officials figured she could pull the angle off. Everyone was surprised at how great she was in the segment.
The original idea for the storyline with Rey’s family was to be something like the Raven-Sandman angle in the original ECW but a lot of that idea was nixed because of WWE being kid-friendly. Punk would have became friendly with Rey’s children and slowly turn them against their father. Another idea would have had Punk cut Rey’s daughter’s hair but that was nixed as well.
CM Punk has wanted a Mask vs. Hair match but the reason it’s not happening at WrestleMania is because WWE creative felt that it would give away the fact that Punk would be losing his hair since nobody expects Rey to really lose his mask.
Rey has been in need of knee surgery for months now and originally he was going to work through WrestleMania and then leave for surgery. Right now the plan is for Rey to stick around and work as long as possible without having the surgery done. The feud with CM Punk is scheduled to go past WrestleMania and CM Punk’s hair may come in to play as a stipulation eventually.
