Backstage news on why The Forgotten Sons were called up to main roster

The Forgotten Sons recently made their debut on SmackDown and latest reports reveal that the NXT stars were called up to the main roster due to a recent change in plans.

Dave Meltzer on the Main Event podcast noted that the original plans for SmackDown’s tag-team division were changed due to the recent injury of Jimmy Uso.

According to the report, the NXT trio was not originally supposed to be called up but the company brought The Forgotten Sons in after the Usos were taken out of the equation.

Meltzer also noted that some people within the company have suggested that Jey Uso should be used as a singles competitor while his brother is out of action.

The company normally keeps a tag team out of their programming if one of the partners is injured. Though there have been exceptions to this rule and Jimmy Usos was previously used on commentary when Jey was out with an injury a few years ago.

For those who don’t know, Jimmy Uso suffered an undisclosed injury recently and he is expected to stay out of action for six to nine months. It’s unknown when he suffered the injury but it’s believed to have occurred during the three-way ladder match at WrestleMania 36.

The Forgotten Sons made their main roster debut during the April 10 episode of SmackDown and they are now scheduled to compete in a fatal four-way match against Lucha House Party, John Morrison and The Miz and The New Day at the upcoming Money In The Bank PPV.
