Ben Askren has been the punchline for a lot of jokes every since his record defeat at the hands of Jorge Masvidal and then to Jake Paul. Ben feels there’s some things that he must clear up in order to move forward with his name and his pride….Jake Paul Leaks UFC Star Steroid Accusation.
Via ESPN, Areil Helwani spoke to Ben Askren in a fairly short interview that was set to clear things up. Areil stated to Ben: “I’m sure you’ve heard everyone asking if the fight was rigged.” Ben Askren: “Yeah.” Areil continues: “You took the punch. You went through it….to see that, to have your integrity questioned….does that bother you?”
Ben Askren then states: “Man….that’s human nature. It is. I mean, uhh, it definitely didn’t happen (the fight being rigged) I got hit. I guess the question to those people is ‘what do I gain by it?,’ I told you guys what I made for this – it was a very nice paycheck. I’m also not destitute and poor. So, what do I gain by that? The answer is ‘nothing,’ in fact, I would actually lose a lot (laughs) No, that’s not something that would ever cross my mind.”
After the fight, a photo was taken in which the pair was seen laughing which caused reason for alarm that the fight was fixed. This has now been cleared up with the above transcription. However, this still doesn’t answer the question as to what his wife said as the two laughed.
It’s being reported that Amy Askren stated: “Aren’t our lives amazing?” Surely they are as Ben made about $500,000 for a couple of hits.
