Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) recently made a comparison with President Joe Biden to a mafia ‘don’ after Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo pressured him for evidence of crimes committed by the commander-in-chief via Mediaite.
As part of the GOP’s investigation into the president’s impeachment, it has been reported that House lawmakers conducted an interview with Hunter Biden on Wednesday morning. Bartiromo, with whom Johnson spoke, asserted that Biden was “completely complicit” in the alleged crimes of his family.
Republicans in the House have charged Biden with making money off of his family’s overseas business ventures when he was a Delaware senator and then the vice president of the United States under former President Barack Obama.
When challenged by Bartiromo, Johnson, however, was unable to provide particular examples of the president’s malfeasance and instead made a general comparison between him and a mafia “don.”
BARTIROMO: Well, look, the Republicans have to prove that Joe Biden was aware, is aware and participated in this influence peddling, right. And I know that there were at least two checks that they’ve identified that went directly to President Biden, and one was 10% for the big guy. It was $40,000 from an overall $400,000, which came from China. But I want to get your take on specifics in terms of, evidence that shows the president’s hands are dirty here.
JOHNSON: Well, first of all, he’s lied repeatedly. Why do you lie if you have nothing to cover up? President Biden is the don of the Biden crime family. You know, oftentimes a Don’s kind of sit above all the the criminal activity that occurs, but they’re fully responsible for it. It was his name that they were peddling. It’s it’s, you know, his position that garnered millions of dollars from China and from Ukraine and from Russia. He is the head of the family. He was fully aware of it. He lied about the fact that he was aware of it. And so, I mean, I think he’s completely complicit.
Hunter also told the House Oversight and Judiciary Committee in a closed-door deposition that his father was “never” involved in his business dealings.
