President Biden disclosed to reporters on Wednesday that he is undertaking an unannounced trip to Walter Reed Hospital for a physical examination. The Associated Press reported Biden’s statement, where he mentioned that a “written summary” of the examination would be released later in the day.
Walter Reed Hospital, serving as the standard medical center for all U.S. Presidents, is situated in Bethesda, Maryland. Biden has been undergoing annual physical examinations since assuming office.
Biden’s health has faced increased scrutiny, particularly after Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report on the investigation into stolen classified documents earlier this month. Hur characterized Biden as an “elderly man with a poor memory” after extensive questioning.
During a press conference following the report’s release, Biden displayed signs of further cognitive decline, including lashing out at reporters and mistakenly referring to Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as the “president of Mexico.”
However, it is unlikely that the examination will include a mental evaluation. The Gateway Pundit previously reported that there would be no cognitive assessment test, despite noticeable signs of Biden’s mental decline.
White House Physician Kevin O’Connor stated that he would not recommend a neurological exam or cognitive test as part of Biden’s delayed physical.
There is speculation that the White House may be apprehensive about the results, fearing they could negatively impact Biden’s chances for re-election.
Apart from mental limitations, Biden has experienced various physical ailments. In 2021, he underwent a colonoscopy, revealing a 3-millimeter “benign-appearing polyp” that was removed. The report also acknowledged Biden’s stiffened gait, a persistent cough, and chronic throat-clearing.
In 1988, Biden underwent surgery to repair two brain aneurysms, one of which was leaking.
Concerns about Biden’s health and whether he should pursue another term in office have been voiced by a significant number of Americans, including Democrats. The ongoing scrutiny underscores the importance of transparency regarding the health and fitness of the President of the United States.
