James Biden, the younger sibling of President Joe Biden, found himself in the midst of a media frenzy as he arrived at the O’Neill House building on Capitol Hill to provide closed-door testimony as part of the ongoing impeachment inquiry against the President. This testimony follows a subpoena issued in November for James Biden’s deposition, which occurred before the formalization of the House’s impeachment inquiry.
The impeachment investigation is centered around allegations that President Biden utilized his influence while in office to favor his family’s business interests abroad. Both James and Hunter Biden, the President’s son, have been actively involved in the family’s various business ventures.
As James made his entrance into the O’Neill building for discussions with lawmakers, a member of the media scrum could be heard shouting a controversial question, “Did Hunter smoke crack at the White House?”
This inquiry harks back to a scandal in July 2023 when the Secret Service uncovered a small plastic bag containing a minute amount of powder cocaine within the White House premises. Subsequent investigations by the Secret Service failed to ascertain whether the substance was left by a White House staff member or a visitor.
The incident has been exploited by far-right commentators and MAGA influencers who have propagated theories suggesting that the President’s son might be responsible for the occurrence due to his well-documented history of struggles with drug and alcohol abuse.
