Bret Hart reveals three names involved in the incident

During episode 21 of ‘Confessions Of The Hitman’, Bret Hart opened up on the off-screen betrayal. It led to the unscripted end to the match against Shawn Michaels where he dropped the WWF(now WWE) title to ‘The Heartbreak Kid’

‘The Hitman’ recalled the incident and revealed Vince McMahon, Triple H, and Gerald Brisco to be the masterminds behind the planning.

Bret Hart said:

“I’d say I gave Shawn the benefit of the doubt up until I knew what happened, and I think that’s why he was so ashamed maybe. He felt so guilty. And Triple H, from what I gathered, I think he was pushing that thing more than Shawn. I think Shawn was more of a willing participant. Triple H, and Brisco, and Vince were the ones who created the whole thing happening.”

He added:

“Earl Hebner got pulled in at the last minute when he walked out, but nobody else knew. Not even the TV guy, the producer, the guy that does all the – Kevin Dunn. Vince’s TV guy didn’t know anything about it until we were in the ring, then I think they told him.”

After a 14-year stint at the company, The Montreal Screwjob caused Bret Hart to part ways with WWF(now WWE) and join rival wrestling promotion, WCW.
