WWE fans all around the world are gearing up for one of the biggest events in sports entertainment, WrestleMania. This year, the show of shows will be held at SoFi Stadium, and it promises to be an unforgettable night of wrestling action. One wrestler who has become a regular fixture at WrestleMania is none other than Brock Lesnar, and this year he is set to go head-to-head with a formidable opponent, Omos.
However, when the news broke that Omos would be Lesnar’s WrestleMania 39 opponent, fans were left feeling underwhelmed. Some even went as far as to say that Lesnar deserved a more worthy adversary. On the other hand, it was revealed that Lesnar himself turned down the opportunity to face Bray Wyatt, a move that might have been the better option, given Wyatt’s recent absence from the wrestling scene.
Despite the negative response from fans, it seems that WWE is planning a unique and exciting build-up to the Lesnar vs. Omos match. According to Sean Sapp from Fightful, the company has decided to emulate the UFC’s process of weigh-ins for the match. WWE officials are keen to recreate the atmosphere and drama of a UFC weigh-in, but without the need for anyone to strip down to a towel, as there are no weight limits for cutting needed for this contest at the showcase of the immortals.
WWE was looking to emulate UFC weigh ins, complete with towels, as of this weekend for Brock Lesnar and Omos.
However, the only reason towels would be needed in a UFC heavyweight weigh in is if one was trying to make the 265 pound heavyweight limit and had to strip down. There is no weight limit in the Omos vs. Lesnar match.
It’s not unusual for WWE to borrow ideas from other sources, and inspiration can come from anywhere, even from Adam Sandler movies or the UFC. In the case of Lesnar vs. Omos, it seems that WWE is looking to draw on Lesnar’s past as a former UFC Heavyweight Champion. This is an interesting move, considering that Lesnar was recently overheard telling people backstage that he is finishing up with WWE.
