CM Punk Rejected Backstage By Top WWE Star

AEW President Tony Khan announced on Saturday that following the investigation involving CM Punk and Jack Perry, Punk’s contract with AEW was terminated. He had been with the company since 2021.

Tony Khan also opened AEW Collision on Saturday and addressed the termination of CM Punk’s contract. It has been noted that the reason CM Punk got fired is due to his demeanor at AEW All In London last Sunday. Punk got into an altercation with Jack Perry.

Their issue stemmed because Perry made comments directed toward Punk during his Zero Hour match with Hook. When Perry got backstage, Punk was there because his match was next. This led to the two men exchanging words and a physical altercation took place with Punk apparently putting Perry into a headlock among other things.

Khan said that the termination came at the unanimous recommendation of AEW’s Discipline Committee and “outside legal counsel”. He apologized to any fans upset at Punk’s firing before transitioning to footage from All In.

Meanwhile, Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that the subject of CM Punk’s WWE firing was really a popular subject of conversation backstage at Payback. They obviously wanted to discuss this very prominent pro wrestling topic.

“CM Punk’s firing was heavily discussed backstage.” FightfulSelect.com reports that several top WWE stars are rejecting Punk returning to WWE.
