According to Mediaite, in anticipation of a vote on initiating an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) vehemently criticized House Republicans. The House Oversight Committee’s ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden’s business activities, with Republicans suggesting the involvement of Joe Biden, has not produced substantiated evidence of the president’s wrongdoing. Democrats argue that this move is a form of retaliation following two impeachments of former President Donald Trump by a Democratic-controlled House.
During a floor speech, Swalwell asserted that his Republican colleagues are attempting to impeach Biden solely because he defeated Trump in the 2020 presidential election, echoing Trump’s baseless claims of election fraud. He characterized the impeachment effort as a continuation of the insurrection that occurred on January 6, insinuating that Republicans have never accepted Biden as the legitimate president. Swalwell pointedly identified the current Speaker of the House as the architect behind the notion that the election could be overturned, and he reminded the audience of Trump’s role in inciting the violent mob during the Capitol attack.
Swalwell turned his focus to Republicans, criticizing them for presenting “zero evidence” to support their claims of Biden’s wrongdoing. He argued that the real issue at hand is Biden’s substantial victory over Trump in the 2020 election. Swalwell sarcastically credited James Comer, the chair of the Oversight Committee, suggesting that given enough time, Comer might prove Hunter Biden is indeed Joe Biden’s son. Comer has been active in promoting the committee’s findings through numerous appearances on cable news channels throughout the year.
The problem is they have zero evidence. The only crime is that Joe Biden blew out Donald Trump in the 2020 election. And that’s a problem because this place is the largest law firm in D.C. with these lawyers working on behalf of just one client – Donald Trump – at the expense of everything else that matters.
But I want to give James Comer some credit because after 50,000 pages of depositions, and secret hearings, and closed hearings, I think if we give him enough time, he’s going to prove that Hunter Biden is Joe Biden’s son.
