Deontay Wilder challenged Tyson Fury for the WBC World Heavyweight Championship in Las Vegas on October 9th last year in their third fight together. The Rock also previously sent a bold message to Deontay Wilder.
After a very long back and forth boxing match that featured Deontay Wilder knocking Tyson Fury down twice during the fourth round, it was Tyson Fury who won the boxing match after he defeated Deontay Wilder in the 11th round.
Deontay Wilder will return to the ring one year after suffering his second career loss to Tyson Fury when the former heavyweight champion takes on Robert Helenius at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Oct. 15 headlining a FOX pay-per-view. Michael Benson took to Twitter and revealed the following about Wilder:
When Deontay Wilder was coming up, he agreed to fight a fan if he got 5,000 ‘fans’ on Facebook. After reaching the target, he uploaded this video…
Wilder talked to The Insider, where he claimed he and his manager Al Haymon have reached out to Ngannou over the proposed matchup and that the UFC heavyweight champion is most definitely interested.
“It was mentioned to me before, and Al agreed,” Wilder, who fights Robert Helenius on Saturday, said. “There’s the old saying, ‘If it makes dollars, it makes sense.’ And he agreed as well… I think that would be an intriguing fight, and it would be a fight that would bring a lot of interest.”
