Donald Trump Savagely Attacks Dr. Deborah Birx

Former United States President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social network on Wednesday, where he unleashed a critical rant against Deborah Birx. Birx served as the White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator during Trump’s administration. In the post, Trump claimed that he had fired Birx, despite her resignation in the wake of a Thanksgiving get-together in 2020.

Birx previously talked about her time in the Trump administration and described how she “always” considered quitting in a role where colleagues viewed her becoming “political” under the former president. In a recent interview, Birx accused the Trump administration of offering “continued communication of underplaying the seriousness of this pandemic” which led to early inaction to address the pandemic and a false sense of security.

Trump, in his Truth Social post, said that “The only thing she had going was nice scarves.” He also took a shot at Birx for her Thanksgiving travel in 2020, claiming that she had lectured the American people not to leave their homes for Thanksgiving, and then traveled hundreds of miles to visit her family, who “incredibly, turned her in to the police.”

In his post, he linked an article from the conservative blog RedState that claimed Birx “openly” lied about the vax. The attack on Birx is just the latest in a series of criticisms that Trump has aimed at members of his own administration, many of whom he has accused of betraying him or not being loyal. It remains to be seen how this latest outburst will impact Trump’s standing among his supporters, or if Birx will respond to the attack.

Most recently, a dual citizen of Canada and France, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to charges of mailing deadly ricin to Trump and eight Texas law enforcement officials. Ferrier, 55, from Quebec is expected to be sentenced to 262 months in prison. She was arrested when trying to enter the United States at a border crossing in Buffalo, New York, carrying a gun, a knife and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. The notes she sent to the intended targets created “fear and stress” even though they didn’t succeed in poisoning them, said the U.S. attorney for the southern district of Texas.
