Ex-WWE Star CM Punk Continues To Blast Hulk Hogan Over His NHL Comment

As noted, Hulk Hogan spoke to ESPN about the NHL Stanley Cup Finals between Chicago Blackhawks and the Tampa Bay Lighting. Prior to game three of the series, Hogan told ESPN that Chicago was “in a whole bunch of trouble” for the game.

“Chicago’s in a lot of trouble,” Hogan said. “I’m going home this week, and I think I’m going to have a little talk with some of the Lightning guys. Chicago’s in a whole bunch of trouble, brother.”

CM Punk took offense to these comments and responded by saying the following:

“Normally the less said about Hulk Hogan the better, but he spoke my name first,” Punk exclaimed. “The Tampa Bay organization should be embarrassed for hitching their trailer to such a piece of garbage that pronounced the captain’s name wrong, and then called coach John Cooper, John Connor! Ladies and gentlemen, we’re in Chicago and we’re real hockey fans and we want the cup! Tampa Bay’s going down!”

In an update, Punk appeared on the CSN Chicago panel for the Chicago Blackhawks’ Stanley Cup parade this afternoon and furthered commented on the situation.

“No he’s not,” Punk replied. “That’s the problem I have with that. If I’m a Lightning fan, I’m embarrassed they hitched their wagon to a guy like that. Doesn’t know Stamkos’s name, the captain’s name. Icing to him is something he eats three times a day.

“My love for hockey supersedes anything else and I would just like to see people tune in and understand the game and appreciate the game for what it is. You put something on there like that, it kind of lowers it a little… If I’m a Lightning fan, I want someone to better represent my team. They’re a hell of an organization. That paints them in the wrong light.”
