Finn Bálor On facing Kevin Owens At The Beast In The East Special And Sheamus

Current NXT Champion Finn Bálor recently appeared on The Taz Show: Bodyslams & Beyond to talk about facing Kevin Owens at the Beast in the East special and Sheamus winning the WWE Title. Here are the highlights.

On facing Kevin Owens at the Beast in the East special:

“I’ve had a lot of matches and the match with Kevin Owens really is one of probably the highest points in my career just for so many reasons. Obviously, the history in Japan and having been there, that building [Ry?goku Kokugikan, also referred to as Sumo Arena]. I went to my first New Japan [Pro-Wrestling Co.] show there. I had my last New Japan match there. Then, to make that move, uncertain move to NXT, arriving in NXT with Kevin Owens, go through the same kind of struggles with adapting to everything together over the year. And then, within a year, return back to Sumo Arena, Tokyo to face someone who I became very close friends with, Kevin Owens, for the NXT title on a WWE Network special, it was kind of a very full circle moment.”

On Sheamus winning the WWE Title:

“I just perked up a little bit, I [have] got to say, when I [saw] Sheamus coming out [after Roman Reigns beat Dean Ambrose in the finals of the World Heavyweight Championship tournament]. I always have a bit of a soft spot for a fellow Irishman,” Bálor continued, “Finn beat Sheamus six times on the U.K. tour last week, so where does that leave me?”
