Hikaru Shida on how she began her pro wrestling career

All Elite Wrestling Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida recently appeared on the AEW Unrestricted podcast. There, Tony Schiavone and Aubrey Edwards spoke to her about her beginnings in wrestling and what led her here.

Hikaru Shida, originally an actress, got into professional wrestling when she auditioned for a wrestling movie. She  said:

“I was an actress. I took a movie audition and the producer came in and stood in front of us, and he said, ‘Okay, you have to be a professional wrestler. If you debut as a professional wrestler, you can take a part in the movie.’ I’ve never watched wrestling before, but I started wrestling for the wrestling movie. I had only a month to train. That was crazy. I never watched before so at the first training, I didn’t know what I was doing.”

Shida’s part in the podcast begins at the eleven-minute mark. She talks about winning the AEW Women’s Title from Nyla Rose, who she spoke to afterward, and more. Brodie Lee, FTR, and Jon Moxley also appeared.

It was an all champions edition of the podcast celebrating its one-year anniversary, which was recorded before Brodie Lee lost the TNT Title on Wednesday.
