A political action group controlled by Donald Trump has reportedly spent millions of dollars on legal representation for his adult children in various personal legal matters. The Save America PAC, founded by Trump after the 2020 presidential election, has allocated substantial funds to cover legal fees for Trump’s elder daughter, Ivanka Trump, as well as his three eldest children: Ivanka, Eric, and Donald Trump Jr.

The PAC’s expenditures on legal fees amount to a significant sum, totaling $2.3 million for Ivanka Trump alone, with an additional $5.3 million allocated to the law firm Robert & Robert, which represented all three of Trump’s eldest children and the Trump Organization in unrelated lawsuits.

The allocation of funds from the Save America PAC for legal expenses has raised questions about the use of political donations to cover personal legal matters, especially since these expenses do not appear to be directly related to Trump’s campaign efforts for the 2024 presidential election.

Critics, including Robert Maguire from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, have accused Trump of misleading donors by using the PAC as a means to cover his and his family’s legal bills, rather than focusing on its purported mission of supporting Trump’s political endeavors.

The legal representation provided by the law firms Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders and Kellogg, Hansen, Todd, Figel, & Frederick was primarily for Ivanka Trump in a lawsuit filed by the New York Attorney General’s office against the Trump Organization and several individuals, including Ivanka Trump and her siblings. While Ivanka Trump was initially named as a defendant in the suit, she was later dismissed from the case, with the court ruling that the claims against her were beyond the statute of limitations.

Despite no longer being a defendant, Ivanka Trump was still required to testify as a witness in the trial, which concluded with closing arguments in January. The outcome of the trial is pending, with a decision expected later this month.
