Former President Donald Trump is seemingly relying on his family to survive the legal woes. In the opening weeks of Trump’s criminal hush money trial, the former president has attempted to brandish his family-man bonafide amid a string of stunning testimony via Politico. However, Ivanka and Tiffany are seemingly not bothered.
Presidential candidates and their advisers have always used their families, when it suits them, as campaign props. However, none have attempted to do so amid the backdrop of a adult film hush money trial, especially when his wife, daughter Ivanka and other close family members have shunned joining the former president at his New York trial.
“If there’s anything that the whole Trump family understands, it’s optics,” said Stephanie Grisham, Melania’s former press secretary who resigned on Jan. 6, 2021. “And the moment people started to notice no family around, Eric showed up to the last court date. It’s all for show.”
The first member of Trump’s family to attend the trial and witness testimony in person during the day, his son, strode into this lack of family support. A wooden barrier stood between the father and son while they spoke.
Keith Davidson, the lawyer for Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal, testified before him on his role as a middleman in arranging the women’s contracts so they could sell their narratives.On the other hand, one prosecution witness painted a far more favorable picture of Trump and his ties to his family. Hope Hicks, the longtime confidante of the former president, spoke under oath on Friday for roughly three hours.
