Jim Ross Blogs: WWE MITB PPV, Dean Ambrose Winning The WWE Title, John Cena vs. AJ Styles

Jim Ross has posted a new blog entry over at his website where he gives his thoughts on Sunday’s MITB PPV event. Here are the highlights.

On John Cena vs. AJ Styles:

The AJ Styles vs. John Cena bout was arguably match of the night for me even though I would have preferred AJ winning by cheating on his own and not the massive run in by Gallows and Anderson. Nonetheless, it was a signature, villain victory for Styles over the WWE’s top hand.

This match told a compelling story and was paced in a way that the fans could process what they were seeing.

If one can process what they are seeing in any pro wrestling presentation, then it becomes more easily to make the all important ’emotional investment’ in what one is seeing.

On the MITB ladder match:

The talents delivered in the sometimes awkward and always dangerous MITB Ladder match. Even though I hoped Kevin Owens would win the briefcase, I have no issues with Dean Ambrose winning and subsequently cashing in the contract on his way to becoming the WWE Champion in a wild, west atmosphere that was fun to watch.

On Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns:

The Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns match was solid but arguably went too long in hindsight. There were too many false finishes IMO of which I rarely say. Constantly kicking out of an opponent’s finish is an ill-advised trend within the biz from where I sit. This needs to change.
