Following Kimmel’s previous public roasting of Trump at the Academy Awards, where he read out Trump’s harsh critique of his hosting skills, Trump has been eager to portray himself as the victor in their ongoing feud.
In response, Kimmel decided to gauge the knowledge of Trump’s ardent supporters by sending writer Blaire Erskine to a Trump rally in South Carolina with a simple mission: to see how well they would fare answering questions from the American Citizenship Test.
Kimmel explained that he wanted to test the patriotism of these supporters, highlighting the misconception among some Trump supporters that America’s founding principles revolve around excluding those who don’t share their beliefs.
The results of Erskine’s impromptu quiz were revealing. When asked about the supreme law of the land, many attendees struggled to provide the correct answer, with responses ranging from vague guesses to entirely unrelated answers. Similarly, when questioned about the number of amendments, the responses varied widely, showcasing a lack of basic knowledge.
Even seemingly straightforward questions, such as identifying the first three words of the Constitution, stumped some participants. While a few managed to answer correctly, others required assistance or offered incorrect responses.
One humorous moment occurred when Erskine compared a participant’s incorrect response to President Joe Biden “cheating,” eliciting a jovial response from the crowd.
Through this comedic segment, Kimmel highlighted the potential gaps in knowledge among some of Trump’s supporters, further fueling the ongoing rivalry between him and the former president.
