The Biden-Harris campaign released a bold new ad on Friday, capitalizing on the positive reception of President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address. However, the ad took an unconventional and explicit approach, leaving little room for subtlety.
Posted on various social media platforms, including Twitter, the ad juxtaposed images of the Ku Klux Klan with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The striking visual was followed by footage of Biden during the speech, and an image of former President Donald Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee, accompanied by a powerful line from Biden’s address:
“Again and again, I’ve seen the contest between competing forces in the battle for the soul of our nation.”
The ad, which can be viewed on Twitter, concludes with a forceful message, emphasizing the importance of ideas over age and addressing concerns about Biden’s own age: “This issue facing our nation isn’t how old we are.
It’s how old are our ideas. Hate, anger, revenge, retribution are the oldest of ideas.” The accompanying visuals include images from the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, the January 6 Capitol insurrection, and photos of Trump on the golf course and standing next to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
