Current UFC star and commentator for NJPW on AXS TV Josh Barnett spoke with TalkSport about Shinsuke Nakamura. Here are the highlights.
On Nakamura:
Being strong and being fit. Being able. And Nakamura is all of that. He is a great example of that, and also he has such an eye for showmanship and how to use it. He’s a very charismatic person and the one thing I’ve always noticed about Nakamura, even when he was a younger wrestler, is that he had a very good idea for pacing and for counter-attacks.
He was so good at being able to find a way to get back into that match, to get back into that fight to reverse, to counter-attack, to turn something against his opponent which is fantastic.
On Nakamura vs. Sami Zayn at NXT Takeover: Dallas:
I did see some bits from his match against Sami Zayn in NXT because of Shayna [Baszler] watching it on her phone. I’m watching the finish and as I’m watching I go: ‘Take a look here. Look at how there’s no waste.’
“He stays on his opponent, he sees the opportunity to win – for victory. This is his chance, let’s build it up, let’s go. Let’s put it right on the guy.
