The historically unpredictable alliance between Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and former President Donald Trump seems to have taken a dramatic turn, as revealed in a new book by Michael Isikoff and Daniel Klaidmanin titled “Find Me the Votes: A Hard-Charging Georgia Prosecutor, a Rogue President, and the Plot to Steal an American Election.”
According to a preview published by Politico, the book discloses that Graham “threw Trump under the bus” during his testimony before a grand jury in Georgia in November 2022. After initially resisting a subpoena for four months, Graham’s stance reportedly shifted abruptly. The authors state that Graham mentioned in his testimony that if someone claimed “Martians came and stole the election, [Trump] would probably believe you.”
In an unexpected twist, Graham, a long-time golf companion of Trump, also questioned Trump’s golfing skills during his testimony. The authors detail that Graham suggested to the grand jurors that Trump may have cheated at golf. This departure from the senator’s previous praises for Trump’s golf game, including a claim that Trump shot a remarkable 73 in challenging conditions, adds a layer of complexity to their relationship.
The book further recounts a peculiar encounter between Graham and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis after his testimony. According to the authors, Graham bumped into Willis in a hallway and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share his story. Reportedly describing the experience as “cathartic,” Graham even surprised witnesses by hugging the prosecutor who was actively pursuing legal actions against Trump. Willis, in response, was said to be nonchalant, reacting with a dismissive “whatever, dude.”
These revelations from the upcoming book add fuel to the already intriguing dynamics between Graham and Trump, shedding light on the senator’s unexpected turn of testimony and his willingness to distance himself from the former president on multiple fronts.
