Mickie James Returning to WWE

Former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James will be returning to the company at NXT’s Toronto Takeover event. WWE Confirmed the news on Instagram:

James herself would then take to Twitter to comment on her return:

Kane is exactly why I know they would ruin Abyss. Look at Kane…….

I think the thing to consider with this is that Brian Kendrick and Rhyno were both brought back into NXT to help get the younger guys over, and now both of them are on the main roster.
Makes a lot of sense to at least give the NXT guys a bit of a rub, and then if everything works out, they can basically reward the veterans with a main roster contract.
    Its win/win

  • CC

You say that, but WWE had every intention of producing a WCW show as a separate entity, but the networks would not agree to show it, so it got shelved.

  • Yo

People don’t realize that NXT became the third brand when they started touring beyond that at least six or seven of the wrestlers in NXT are already bigger Stars than some of the main roster Stars and as much as I would love to see Mickie James back on the main roster she’s only there for that one match at NXT right now but hopefully that changes and of course she gets a title shot she pretty much a damn Legend

  • D2K

I’d like to see Abyss their too but they would probably screw up his gimmick.

  • M

Sad but true. Considering where TNA was heading before 09, I never would have thought WWE would 7 years later have nearly all of their main guys on their rosters. Let alone the shock of Styles but everybody has pretty much made their way over there. Magnus is pretty much the only guy other than Abyss who fans may get excited to see that hasn’t shown up yet.

  • D2K

WWE just “wanted” WCW library, but they got all of WCW because Time Warner just wanted to get rid of it. Similar situation may happen again.

  • Brad Grillakis

    wwe just wants library

  • JC Bolden

Mickie’s back and so is Kenny. No wonder John boy is taking some time off lol

  • D2K

Part of me wonders if Triple H is secretly turning NXT from a developmental brand into a viable third brand.

  • D2K

But WWE may own TNA soon so…..

  • M

This does and doesn’t impress me. If they got Magnus to come with her that would be mind blowing. There’s only a handful of wrestlers left on the independents that WWE should sign, Magnus is one of them. However I think he’d have to come over as Nick Aldis or some other name since TNA may own that one.

So she automatically gets a title shot? What gives?

  • wwemrpeeps85

    Omg yesssssssss but why nxt

  • The Killswitch

You know, I got to thinking, and maybe I’m thinking too far into the future here, but since she’s married to Magnus, wouldn’t it be convenient if the both of them made it to the WWE? Anybody know if he’s doing anything at the moment? I know he’s still listed as a GFW wrestler, but I haven’t heard any news about that company in a while. Apparently they’re still working on a TV deal, so I guess that explains it.

  • The Killswitch

That would make sense for me as well. I don’t watch NXT since I’m not a constant network subscriber (only when there are PPVs that catch my attention), but maybe they saw it as an opportunity to draw viewers, and there isn’t a solid contender at the moment. Like I said, I don’t know what the storylines are at the moment, but rare veteran appearances are nice as a fallback option.

    Mmmmmm…Thickie James

  • Kristopher Robinson

Dam, first match is a championship match. I figured she’d go straight to the main roster as well.
