In 1990, Mike Tyson’s personal life took a downward turn with the Desiree Washington case. However, he made a comeback in 1995 and reclaimed the WBC Heavyweight title the following year. Unfortunately, his career took another hit when he infamously bit Evander Holyfield’s ear during their rematch on June 28, 1997, at MGM Grand Arena, leading to a boxing ban until 1999.
Despite the negative attention brought on by the “Bite Fight,” Tyson remained a popular figure at public gatherings. In a photo taken on September 30, 1997, a few months after the incident, Tyson was seen hugging musician and songwriter Mariah Carey at the opening of singer Sean ‘Puff Daddy’ Combs’ new eatery Justin’s in New York.
Fans and followers reacted to the photo with a mix of concern and humor, as the shocking incident was still fresh in their minds.
