Possible losses WWE might suffer due to WrestleMania change

WWE changed their plans for this year’s WrestleMania. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, they had to change the venue from Tampa to the WWE Performance Center. No fans will be in attendance.

Due to this change of plans, the company will be losing money. Rumors suggest that this move to the Performance Center was an insurance loophole and WWE expects Orlando to call off the closed set broadcast.

According to Wrestlenomics, WWE could receive some money back from Raymond James Stadium. While the production will not set them back by much, they are still expected to suffer a loss of over $20 million.

WWE probably saves costs on lighter production and maybe they get venue lease money back. Mania in the stadium would’ve drawn gate of ~$15mm. Probably $4mm total for the 4 arena shows. $3mm in venue merch. They have hope to keep Network subs up in Q2 by going on with it.

They are expected to make good sales for merchandise during Axxess and WrestleMania events. With the event taking place for two days, we will have to see how they will plan for it.
