Randy Orton Tried To Get Tag Team Partner Fired

Matt Riddle recently shared a story about his initial encounter with Randy Orton in WWE during an appearance on Signed by Superstars. According to Riddle, the awkward meeting took place in 2019 when Orton was going around to greet everyone, and Riddle opted to keep to himself. This led to some tension, and Riddle claimed that Orton initially wanted to find a way to get him fired. However, their relationship eventually evolved into a strong bond, with Team RKBro becoming a successful and popular tag team in WWE.

Riddle mentioned that Orton didn’t appreciate his initial lack of a greeting, saying, “I didn’t want to bother him, and he’s going up to everybody [and shaking their hands]. I had my headphones on, I was chilling, and I didn’t go up and say hi to him. And I remember Randy going, ‘I’m going to figure out a way to get this guy fired.’ And I was like, ‘You said that, dude?’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah, but you’re cool now.'”

Despite this rocky start, Riddle and Orton overcame the initial tension and formed a successful tag team, capturing the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship and earning acclaim for their chemistry in the ring and entertaining segments on WWE television.

“I think Randy didn’t like me. First time we met, I didn’t want to bother him and he’s going up to everybody [and shaking their hands] I had my headphones on, I was chilling and I didn’t go up and say hi to him. And I remember Randy going, ‘I’m going to figure out a way to get this guy fired.’ And I was like, ‘You said that, dude?’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah, but you’re cool now.’”
