As noted, WWE has reportedly decided to drop the name “Divas” when referring to their female talent. WWE plans to rebrand the Divas division as the Women’s division. WWE will make the official announcement on Monday’s episode of RAW.
WWE has already created a WWE Women’s Championship belt, and it’s similar to the WWE Championship belt. WWE introduced the Divas Title back in 2008.
During an interview with Brian Fritz, Sasha Banks commented on the report of a change to the Divas Title. Here is what she had to say:
“Honestly I hope they do,” Banks admitted. “I have no problem with it being called Divas, but to me, I am a women’s wrestler and that’s what I grew up watching. I think that would be really cool, and just to know that we’re part of history of maybe [the name] changing again. But there’s always going to be the pretty type and there’s going to be the gritty wrestler that I am trying to be. But we are trying to be part of history and I’m lucky to be a part of growing with it.”
