Mercedes Mone has risen to prominence and achieved star status in the Japanese wrestling scene, notably through her appearances in promotions such as NJPW and STARDOM. Despite her absence from WWE for an extended period, there is a prevailing sense of confidence among high-ranking WWE officials regarding her eventual return.
The wrestling community was taken aback when Mone made a sudden departure from WWE during a May episode of Monday Night RAW in 2022. This unexpected move sent shockwaves throughout the industry. Since parting ways with WWE, Mone has been dedicated to constructing her own brand and carving out a distinctive identity within the realm of professional wrestling.
Initial reports suggested that negotiations between Mercedes Mone and WWE were underway, fueling expectations of a potential comeback at the Royal Rumble. However, it appears that these negotiations did not culminate in a successful agreement.
Despite this setback, discussions about Mone’s return to WWE continue to circulate. According to PWInsider, sources within WWE have expressed a strong desire to welcome Mone back into the company. The report indicates that a WWE higher-up holds a steadfast belief in securing Mercedes Mone’s return.
”WWE sources noted that several factors, including change in ownership and the Paul Levesque creative regime firmly in place, set the stage for the two sides to reset their relationship and for Varnado to potentially return. We are told the company would absolutely love to have her back and have made that clear – and that at least early discussions between the sides have happened.
One WWE source felt confident about her eventual return as Sasha Banks, but cautioned that until a deal is signed, nothing is ever official. Before anyone asks, we have not heard anything since in regard to her in AEW or New Japan, but one would think that AEW would want to swoop in and make a big offer to add some “oomph” to their first 2024 quarter.”
