WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin has been slated to make his return at WrestleMania 38, which is set to take place in Dallas, Texas. It was previously note that he might end up having a match at the event. It has been almost a couple of decades since Austin wrestled. However, he has made many cameo appearances and he has never been involved in a proper match. ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ has been rumored to one-on-one against Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38.
It is understood that Austin would agreed to make a comeback because of how big the payday is going to be. However, Brad Shepard reported that it is “absolutely is not a done deal to be wrestling a formal match” at the WWE’s flagship pay-per-view.
Shepard further revealed in an update that he spoke with a source in WWE and he was told that ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ has not been planned to make his in-ring return yet. However, in the world of WWE, things could change anytime.
Vince Russo pitches the idea of Steve Austin vs Roman Reigns
Vince Russo recently pitched the idea of Stone Cold Steve Austin taking on WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in his WWE return match instead of Kevin Owens.
Russo worked as WWE’s head writer during the height of Austin’s popularity in the late 1990s. Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Dr. Chris Featherstone, he explained why Reigns is better suited to be the Hall of Famer’s comeback opponent:
“If they were going to do this the right way, then Austin would come in and put their talent over who’s going to be there. I talked about Reigns, bro, and we’re talking about Bret Hart and Austin [at] WrestleMania [13] with the blood, and there’s no quit in this man.” Russo continued, “Remember Apollo Creed when he could not put Rocky down? That’s the story.”
