ThunderStruck: WWE NXT Analysis Double Dose 11/20 and 11/27

NXT 11/20

We see a flashback of Sami Zayn losing to Adrian Neville on the 11/13 episode. Neville tricked Zayn into thinking he was injured after he missed the red arrow and got the surprise rollup victory.

Bayley kicks off the show tonight against Becky Lynch(w/Sasha Banks). Lynch wins a very short match with a small distraction by Banks on Bayley. Lynch gets the rollup while holding the tights. Charlotte comes out for the save as the two ladies run away.

^Short and boring match. Too short to matter and a waste of a slot in the show’s script with that lack of effort. Why should we care when it goes down like this?

Bayley thanks Charlotte for helping her out. Charlotte tells Bayley she won’t be here next week and tells her to stay away from Sasha Banks. Bayley hugs Charlotte.

^That was more entertaining than the match earlier.

Time for the Vaudevillains! They cut a promo about being number one contenders and deserving their title shot right now. A couple of midgets come out instead of the Lucha Dragons and face the heel number one contenders. The Vaudevillains make a joke out of the scenario and win the match after they bring a ref down.

^It’s entertaining, and it’s clever. Solid segment, but somewhat disappointed that I didn’t get to see the Lucha Dragons in action.

Kevin Owens/Kevin Steen vignette. Can’t wait!

Baron Corbin is the next highlight of the show. He takes on Elias Sampson. The crowd counts along and Corbin wins the match with the end of days in less than a half minute.

^I was expecting a bit more. This works, but Corbin will need some wrestling ability shown to the audience if they’re going to buy in across the globe.

Bully Dempsey comes out as Baron Corbin is leaving. Dempsey is squashing Steve Cutler in a very quick match. Dempsey wins with the flying headbutt.

^Statement match. Dempsey is going to be a wrecking ball in NXT as he moves up the ladder. I like that a guy with a more average look can perform at this level and succeed; he’s my sort of character!

Tyson Kidd is up next and he’s taking on CJ Parker. Kidd wins a short match with the sharpshooter. Kidd cuts a promo after the match and it’s bad. He challenges Finn Balor to a match next week.

^Kidd looks great in the ring as always, but CJ Parker has still done nothing to impress me. Kidd is awful on the mic. Let him wrestle and don’t let him touch a mic.

Enzo and Cass have a promo. I don’t care.

Enzo and Cass work the crowd before the match. The crowd is into them. I’m not.

Enzo pins Dawson as he and Cass defeat Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder.

^I don’t understand anything about their gimmick, but the crowd seems to like them.

The Ascension destroy all four men after the match. Strutting their stuff now that they aren’t champions. Dash Wilder falls victim to the fall of man. The Ascension cut a promo on Hideo Atami and Finn Ballor.

Sami Zayn thanks William Regal backstage for allowing him to speak to the WWE Universe tonight.

Zayn cuts a promo and wants one last match against Adrian Neville. Neville agrees to give him one last match and Zayn says he’ll quit if he can’t win the Title.

^Can’t wait for that epic encounter on December 11th!

NXT 11/27

Tyler Breeze opens the show. Marcus Louis is his opponent with no hair and eyebrows. Breeze gets in Louis’ face before the match and tells him he can’t touch him. Breeze then delivers a beauty shot for the three count.

^That was odd. Not what I’d picture for an NXT opening, but I guess it worked for putting over Breeze as a top heel.

Enzo and Big Cass are out next with their rap gimmick. Carmella defeats “Blue Pants”.

^Weird segment; not my thing.

The Lucha Dragons are out next. They’re taking on Tye Dillinger and Jason Jordan. The Lucha Dragons win a short back and forth match.

^I liked this back and forth match with Kalisto really showcasing his skills in the ring. Glad to see Hunico doing the Sin Cara role with no further issues; it just works.

Vignette: My name is Kevin Owens, and I am going to change everything.

^Oh hell yes!

Bayley comes out calls out Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch(knowing Charlotte isn’t available this week to help out). Banks and Lynch come out and beat up Bayley.

^Plain and simple. Bayley is apparently dumb as dirt as part of her character. Not sure I see where this is going.

Finn Balor takes on Tyson Kidd in our main event. The Ascension come out and attack Balor to cause the DQ finish. Hideo Atami comes down for the save as it’s chaos with his week’s edition of NXT coming to a close.

^Balor and Kidd were showcasing some amazing wrestling ability, and I think we only saw the tip of the iceberg in regards to what these two can do in the ring together.

These two episodes felt really weak and full of plugs for the special event in December. I love NXT for its in ring quality week in and week out, not for its special edition shows.
