Tom Cruise Rejects Massive The Rock Offer

Red Notice, the entertaining archaeology heist film starring Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot, and Dwayne Johnson, is doing exceptionally well on Netflix. The film received 148 million viewing hours in its first week of release. Red Notice is at the top of the list for the most hours watched in the first 28 days of a film’s release.

However, the star-studded cast almost had another well-known face added to it. Apparently, actor Tom Cruise was supposed to appear in the film, but as we all know, that did not happen. So, why didn’t Tom Cruise do the cameo, and will he reconsider future franchise installments?

Universal declined to make the film after it reportedly cost a few hundred million dollars to produce. Soon after, Netflix rescued the film, picking it up and bringing Ryan Reynolds into the cast. He wasn’t, however, the only celebrity set to make an appearance.

According to Illuminerdi, Tom Cruise almost had a short cameo in Red Notice, but due to him being extremely particular about the roles he does, he backed out from the film. Another factor to consider is that the film’s budget was significantly reduced after each of the three main leads, Reynolds, Gal Gadot, and Dwayne Johnson, received $20 million for their roles. This meant that Cruise’s pay would be reduced.

Do you think declining an offer based on pay is a good idea? Sound off in the comments.
