Randy Orton and Triple H have been long time friends as well as long time foes. During a recent edition of ‘The Kurt Angle Show’, ‘The Viper’ was interviewed by the former fellow WWE Champion. Here, Orton discussed to Angle about the road to WrestleMania 22 and his classic WrestleMania matchup against Angle and Rey Mysterio, who would end up winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship that night. During this interview Orton proclaims that prior to this match, Orton was punished due to some childish antics which caused ‘The Legend Killer’ to have a planned push put on pause which led to Mysterio’s opportunity with the championship. “I do remember that they were going with me. This (WrestleMania) was after HHH and Batista. I think prior to that, I was supposed to be with HHH and do the big story going into Mania, and I had messed up somewhere along the lines. I think now my punishment was over with and they were ready to go with me again. I want to say they were running with me, and they were going to put the title on me for this Triple Threat. I could be wrong, but that’s my memory anyway. I think I got a little bit of heat for some young, dumb, punk shit that I did and I think they ended up going with Rey, right? But, the recollection of the exacts back then are hard to really put out, but, I do know 2006 was a rough year for me personally. So, that was in the middle of all of that too. There’s a good reason why I don’t remember that year too much, but I remember the match. I remember not having a lot of time for the match. It might have started at 20 or 18 minutes, and by the time, like every WrestleMania, by the time we got to our match, I think we had lost at least half of that. The actual in-ring couldn’t have been more than 10 minutes if I remember correctly.”
