Trump Could Be Banned ‘Everywhere’ In Election If…

According to The Epoch Times, Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon has made predictions regarding the potential inclusion or exclusion of former President Donald Trump on election ballots across the United States, following a Colorado Supreme Court decision to prohibit Trump from appearing on the state’s ballot. In an interview with MSNBC on December 23, Simon asserted that the situation would likely lead to a resolution at the U.S. Supreme Court level to ensure national uniformity.

Simon stated, “We’re never going to have a situation in this country where one or some cluster of states decides that Donald Trump is not on the ballot and everyone else decides he is.” He expressed confidence that the U.S. Supreme Court would intervene to address the matter comprehensively, emphasizing the need for clarity.

Despite anticipating U.S. Supreme Court involvement, Simon acknowledged the complexity of the case, highlighting “so many different ways” for the court to approach and resolve the issue. He noted that there were multiple options for the court to dispose of the case without delving into the question of whether Trump was involved in or supported insurrection.

Simon raised the possibility that the U.S. Supreme Court might return the case to Colorado, suggesting that additional development of a factual record or more testimony could be sought. He emphasized the significance of the case, labeling it as the “canary in the coal mine” that is likely to reach the U.S. Supreme Court.

Commenting on the broader implications of the situation, Simon described it as “administratively crazy” and expressed concern about the uncertainty faced by the people of Colorado regarding the potential presence of a major presidential candidate on the ballot. He noted the anxiety surrounding the logistical and administrative challenges if the issue extends into a general election, emphasizing the need for a clear resolution.
