According to Yahoo, former Donald Trump campaign staffer Arlene “A.J.” Delgado is seeking to take advantage of Elon Musk’s offer to cover legal expenses for individuals who have faced unfair treatment from their employers due to their activities on X, a social media platform. Delgado has shared her story of alleged mistreatment and retaliation after revealing her relationship with her then-boss, Jason Miller, who was the spokesperson for Trump’s 2016 campaign and later held positions in the Trump administration.
According to Delgado, she informed the campaign about her pregnancy resulting from the relationship and asked for assistance. However, she claims that her revelation led to her being marginalized within the campaign while her supervisor was promoted. Delgado asserts that she faced retaliation and was subsequently sued for $1.5 million just 10 days after giving birth in July 2017. The lawsuit was reportedly based on an alleged violation of her nondisclosure agreement by disclosing her pregnancy.
Elon Musk’s offer to cover legal expenses is part of his brand’s push for an open and unrestricted attitude towards speech and expression. Delgado posted on social media, providing evidence of being sued for her Twitter posts and revealing the amount she was being sued for.
Delgado also highlighted a deposition from former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, where he referenced her Twitter posts as a factor in her not receiving a job with the Trump White House. Her pinned post on X links to a 2019 Mediaite story detailing Miller’s admission to hiring prostitutes before and after his involvement with Delgado.
A.J. Delgado first publicly discussed her relationship with Jason Miller, who was married at the time, in a 2017 interview with The Atlantic. She initially gained prominence as a conservative writer and commentator and has announced plans to release a book and launch a podcast.
