Michael Cohen, Donald Trump’s former attorney, described it as “comical” that the former president is complaining about his hush money trial potentially preventing him from attending his son Barron Trump’s high school graduation. Cohen pointed out that Trump may be overstating the situation and misleadingly claiming he’s been banned from going to the event.
Cohen expressed skepticism about Trump’s concern, noting that he was not aware of Trump attending the graduations of his other children. Cohen also shared his personal experience of missing significant life events due to actions taken on behalf of Trump, which led to his incarceration.
Despite Trump’s complaints, Cohen remains unsympathetic and believes the trial’s impact on Trump’s attendance at Barron’s graduation is not a significant issue. He suggested that Trump’s absence might actually be a relief to Barron and Melania Trump.
“I find it not just comical, right, but I find it insulting that that’s the big issue,” Cohen, who spent years as Trump’s fixer, said on the MeidasTouch Network’s “Political Beatdown” podcast.
“I missed my 25th anniversary and my wife’s 50th birthday because I was in Otisville, in part because of things that I had done at the direction of and for the benefit of Donald Trump,” he recalled.
“So, before I start shedding a tear for him, for Barron, and, I’m sure Melania is extremely excited he’s not going to be there,” Cohen added. “Rest assured I’m not losing any sleep nor am I going to shed a tear that Trump can’t go to Barron’s graduation.”
Cohen is expected to be a key witness in Trump’s trial, which centers on allegations that Trump paid hush money to silence porn actor Stormy Daniels about their alleged affair before the 2016 election. Cohen himself was sentenced to prison for lying to Congress, campaign finance violations, and other charges related to the payments.
