Trump fervently cited a section of the Justice Department’s Justice Manual, contending that his cases should be summarily dismissed, despite their diverse jurisdictions.
In his impassioned rant, Trump declared, “ALL POLITICAL PROSECUTIONS OF YOUR FAVORITE PRESIDENT, ME, MUST STOP IMMEDIATELY.” He lambasted what he characterized as radical left prosecutors and judges for allegedly orchestrating a coordinated assault on his candidacy, insinuating a deliberate effort to undermine the integrity of the electoral process.
Quoting Section 9-85.500 of the Justice Manual, Trump vehemently decried the alleged election interference, adamantly asserting, “THIS IS COMMUNISM, AND A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY.” He adamantly maintained that he should not be subjected to what he termed “FAKE PROSECUTIONS” prior to the crucial election, warning of dire consequences for the nation should such actions persist.
Jack Goldsmith, a distinguished professor at Harvard Law School, echoed Trump’s sentiments, citing the same section of the Justice Manual in a recent article. Goldsmith expressed concerns over the rushed timeline pursued by Special Counsel Jack Smith, cautioning against the potential impact on the general election. Despite Smith’s urgency to expedite the trial to avert electoral interference, Goldsmith cast doubts on the feasibility of such a timeline, particularly given Trump’s ongoing appeals to the Supreme Court.
