Trump Family Member Reveals Election Money Problem

Former President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump stated that she would spend all of the Republican National Committee’s money trying to elect Donald Trump if she becomes chair of the Republican National Committee.

It seems that such a plan would undoubtedly be an unwelcome development for many down-ballot Republicans who expect to be in close races in November.

It has been noted that the former president endorsed his daughter-in-law on Monday to be co-chair of the critical organization, saying she’s “very talented.” Donald Trump has endorsed North Carolina Republican Party Chair Michael Whatley to serve as the other chair.

Lara Trump appeared on Newsmax on Tuesday where she spoke about her vision for the RNC after Ronna McDaniel steps down as chair – likely this month. McDaniel’s seven-year stint at the organization has had plenty of conservative critics over the years, which host Rob Schmitt noted.

“We have big problems with fundraising,” he told Lara Trump while also alluding to Democrats’ knack for mail-voting. “So, talk about what needs to change at the Committee to make this party more competitive, because I think after 2022 with those midterms when that went the way it did – as hated as Joe Biden was – I think we all realize we have a huge problem in the party. What needs to change? And if you get the job, what can you do?”

Trump replied that Republicans need to get better at early voting and ballot harvesting, which she said “Democrats always outdo us on.” She then turned to the RNC’s spending priorities:

“Here’s what I can tell you. The RNC needs to be the leanest, most lethal political fighting machine we’ve ever seen in American history. That is the goal over the next nine and a half months. If I am elected to this position, I can assure you, there will not be any more $70,000 or whatever exorbitant amount of money it was spent on flowers.

Every single penny will go to the number one and the only job of the RNC. That is electing Donald J. Trump as president of the United States and saving this country. We have no time to waste. We’ve got to get to work. We’ve got a lot of money to raise and we need to ensure that every penny goes to those things that I just mentioned.”

Last month it was reported that Donald Trump spent $50 million in donor money on his legal bills, which are accruing at a whirlwind pace.

It has come to light that the former president is under criminal indictment in four jurisdictions where he will stand trial for trying to overturn the 2020 election, retaining government documents after leaving office, and allegedly falsifying business records to cover up hush money payments.

He and his company the Trump Organization are also currently on trial in civil court in New York, where last year a judge ruled they defrauded banks and insurance companies. The New York attorney general has asked the judge to make Trump pay $370 million. In a separate civil case last month, Trump was ordered to pay $83.3 million in damages for defamation to a woman whom he was found liable for sexually assaulting.
