Some Super Tuesday voters are not holding back when expressing their opinions on candidates, as evidenced by Emmett Martin of Graham, North Carolina. During an interview with NBC correspondent Shaquille Brewster, Martin initially hesitated but eventually candidly explained his refusal to support Nikki Haley over Donald Trump for the Republican Party’s presidential nominee.
Martin asserted that Haley wouldn’t make a good president because she lacks the assertiveness he believes is necessary. He used a colloquial expression to emphasize his point, stating, “She doesn’t have no balls to scratch. She’s just going to scratch her head. All a woman is good for in my book is having babies and taking care of the house. That’s the old thing, but I’m old school.”
When Brewster questioned if Martin had considered Haley at all, he responded, “No, mainly because she’s a woman.” Martin clarified that he believes women need guidance and suggested that Trump would be the one to provide it.
Despite his explicit comments, Martin insisted he didn’t want to be misunderstood and added, “Don’t take me wrong, females know what they’re doing, but they still got to have a little bit of guidance. Trump would be the one to guide her.”
“You know, what I got to say, you don’t really want to put on the air,” Martin said.
“Let me hear it!” Brewster replied only to seconds later be listening to Martin describe why Haley would not make a good president because she doesn’t have “balls to scratch.”
“Well, one is not going to be a good president because she doesn’t have no balls to scratch. She’s just going to scratch her head. All a woman is good for in my book is having babies and taking care of the house. That’s the old thing, but I’m old school,” Martin said.
“So you never even considered her?” Brewster asked.
“No,” Martin said.
“Mainly because she’s a woman?”
“Because she’s female.”
Brewster shared the exchange on social media, highlighting the rarity of voters expressing such explicit opinions about Nikki Haley’s gender. In a segment on MSNBC, Martin’s comments about Haley did not air, but his positive remarks about Trump, focusing on jobs, taxes, and the economy, were featured.
This outspoken sentiment against Haley was not isolated, as another voter on Fox & Friends criticized her, suggesting she’s “probably menopausal” and stating that she wouldn’t vote for a woman.
