On Wednesday, House Republicans officially referred Hunter and James Biden to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution for allegedly lying to Congress via Mediaite. It has been noted in a letter that three committee chairmen wrote that “today [they] sent criminal referrals to the DOJ recommending Hunter and James Biden be charged with making false statements to Congress about key aspects of the impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden.”
The letter was signed by House Oversight Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY), Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), and Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO).
“These false statements implicate Joe Biden’s knowledge of and role in his family’s influence peddling schemes and appear to be a calculated effort to shield Joe Biden from the impeachment inquiry,” added the committee.
Fox News had covered the breaking news and anchor John Roberts questioned congressional correspondent Chad Pergram to explain some of the details.
“What are Hunter and Jim Biden accused Chad of lying about?” Roberts asked.
“Hunter Biden is accused of lying about his role at Rosemont Seneca Bohai. That’s a Biden-related business. He is also accused of telling falsehoods about communications with Chinese business partners. Republicans say Jim Biden failed to tell the truth too,” Pergram replied.
Pergram added, “The criminal referral says James Biden lied about attending a meeting between Hunter Biden, the president, and Hunter Biden business partner Tony Bobulinski.”
Hunter and James Biden both testified before Congress under oath as part of the House GOP’s impeachment investigation into President Biden, which has yet to publicly reveal any concrete evidence connecting the president to his son’s shady business dealings.
