According to Mediaite, on Thursday, former President Donald Trump intensified his ongoing dispute with Fox News, taking aim at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley, the former UN ambassador, whom he claims is now the network’s favored candidate. Trump’s commentary on his Truth Social platform underscored his displeasure with the network’s apparent shift in support.
“FoxNews gave up on DeSanctimonious. Now they’re pushing Birdbrain,” Trump quipped, referencing Haley. He further expressed his frustration, stating, “They just haven’t learned, and probably never will!”
Analyzing recent coverage trends, it appears that Fox News has mentioned Haley 73 times and DeSantis 82 times in the last five days, while Trump has garnered a notable 568 mentions during the same period, as reported by SnapStream’s cable news archives.
Throughout the GOP primary race, Trump has persistently accused the network of boosting DeSantis and not adhering to his “America First” agenda. In a September post on Truth Social, he criticized DeSantis for his proposed changes to Social Security and Medicare, and for his spending habits, claiming that Fox News continued to feature him on their programs, including Hannity. Trump’s frustration with the network’s coverage choices is apparent, as he asserted, “They’ve actually picked another candidate, they just don’t know who it is yet…Ratings Freefall! I’m America First, so it will never be me!”
With Trump now turning his attention to Haley as the presumed alternative candidate favored by Fox News, it is likely that his attacks on the former South Carolina governor will escalate in the near future.
