George Conway, Conservative lawyer and critic of former President Donald Trump spoke to Greg Sargent for the Monday episode of his Daily Blast podcast and blasted CNN over its coverage of Trump’s hush money trial in New York City via Mediaite.

It has been noted that the chat started off with a discussion of Conway taking down conservative CNN contributor Scott Jennings last Friday. Conway then alleged Jennings of lying on air while defending Trump. He lamented to Sargent that more people in the media do not actively shoot down right-wing lies when it comes to basic facts surrounding Trump.

They had a prolonged conversation in which Conway noted that many staffers at CNN were unhappy with the network’s coverage of the Trump trial. Conway then spoke about being ghosted by the network in the past for criticizing Trump on air.

“When Chris Licht was running CNN, you know, I used to for a long time, I’ve been getting tons of requests from CNN. Maybe I won’t get any after today, but I don’t care. I don’t get paid. It’s fine,” Conway began, noting he would get at least five calls a week in the past to appear on CNN. Licht’s short reign as the CEO of CNN was marked by criticism from top talent and staffers for his desire to embrace “both sides” of the political spectrum.

Conway also recalled doing a hit in which he “probably said the wrong words because the words I said was, well, Donald Trump is a ‘narcissistic psychopath.’”

“And then I stopped getting ,I stopped getting phone calls from the bookers at CNN for weeks. And, you know, it was announced within a day or two, the event, the town hall, the town hall that they held with Trump where they put poor Kaitlin out there with this manifest psychopath and where Chris Licht behind stage told Donald Trump to ‘go have fun.’”

“And so I know for a fact that the people in Mar-a-Lago will complain whenever I get on air. And they clearly I mean, I infer from that they that that some kind of an edict came down, not to put me on the air. And they were doing that to please camp Mar-A-Lago,” Conway concluded.

“George, do you think that was a condition in part for them going through the debate?” followed up Sargent.

“I don’t know whether it was a condition. I don’t know that there was condition,” replied Conway, noting that CNN eventually began calling him again to appear.
