Collin Rugg reports that new findings suggest Thomas Crooks may have planned to blow up his car as a distraction to assassinate former President Trump. Investigators discovered a metal box of explosives in Crooks’ car, connected by wires to a receiver that could be detonated remotely.
In a surprising twist, investigators have found no evidence in Crooks’ search history indicating he researched how to make homemade explosives.
During the final 48 hours before the incident, Crooks engaged in several activities: he visited a shooting range, purchased a five-foot ladder from Home Depot, and bought ammunition from a gun store. Despite successfully accessing his phone, investigators have yet to uncover a motive.
The situation is perplexing, with many aspects remaining unexplained.

Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania, was described by former classmates as a bullied loner. Authorities found explosive devices in his car following the incident.
Crooks was stationed on the roof of a manufacturing plant over 130 yards away from the Butler Farm Show grounds where Trump’s rally was taking place. He fired shots that grazed Trump’s ear, killed a volunteer firefighter, and wounded two other individuals. Secret Service snipers quickly returned fire, killing Crooks after he fired approximately eight rounds.
