Trump ‘Twists Knife’ In Speaker of the House Candidate

Donald Trump never tries to let a moment slide from him where he can take credit. He tries to create opportunities where he can take credit, and this time around it came in the form of Rep. Tom Emmer’s (R-MN). Trump was in the court on Tuesday to take care of the fraud case against him.

The case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James and presided over by Judge Arthur Engoron has Trump charged with fraud. We also had Trump’s former fixer-turned-star witness Michael Cohen. Trump hasn’t been happy about the overall situation and the possible outcome.

The former president took the opportunity to rant about the case and even brag about Emmer’s bid ending to become the house speaker. Trump responded to the question around Tom Emmer’s decision to quit after his defeat with “That was quick!”

REPORTER 1: Do you think you had an impact there? And who would you like to see as speaker?

DONALD TRUMP: I absolutely must have had an impact because as soon as I did the un-endorsement and it was never an endorsement, I was never treated particularly well by them, as you probably heard. And it was a fact that most people are MAGA in the Republican Party want to see our country great again. So I disagreed with them on a lot of things over the years, and I assume I had a big impact. I wrote a note. I wrote I guess you’d call an endorsement of anybody else.

And I haven’t made a determination on the else. But we have some very good people. We have some real great people, and we’re not too good for the list right now. But we do have some great people.

REPORTER 1: Well, do you support Byron Donalds?

DONALD TRUMP: I like Byron very much. I like. So pretty much I was not happy with the one that seemed to be gaining speed, I disagreed with him very much on globalism and on many other things. And that’s the way it turned out. I’m for America first. America first is very important to me. I don’t think he was for America first. And so it looks like he dropped out. Did he just dropped out?

REPORTERS: He just dropped out.

DONALD TRUMP: Well that was quick. That was very quick. But we are some great people and one of them will be chosen. And what they’ve chosen, I think we’re going to speak to we have four or five that want it.

According to Mediaite, Wednesday was the day when Trump was absolutely thrilled with Emmer’s defeat. He took to Truth Social and shared his thoughts on the turn of events. The post talked about the situation where Trump congratulated Republicans for replacing him with Rep. Mike Johnson.

Congratulations to Congressional Republicans! Yesterday was a big and very important day. It gave us a quick and easy way forward with 5 candidates who are beyond reproach, and represent the absolute best there is in the Republican Party. Even the Fake News Media is impressed with what took place yesterday and, more importantly, with the Candidates themselves. Congratulations to Reps. Byron Donalds (Florida), Charles J. “Chuck” Fleischmann (Tennessee), Mark Green (Tennessee), & Roger Williams (Texas), & the ultimate winner of yesterday’s vote, by a significant margin, Mike Johnson (Louisiana). I am not going to make an Endorsement in this race, because I COULD NEVER GO AGAINST ANY OF THESE FINE AND VERY TALENTED MEN, all of whom have supported me, in both mind and spirit, from the very beginning of our GREAT 2016 Victory. In 2024, we will have an even bigger, & more important, WIN! My strong SUGGESTION is to go with the leading candidate, Mike Johnson, & GET IT DONE, FAST! LOVE, DJT
