According to DailyMail, Republican congresswoman Lauren Boebert found herself at the center of a media storm after being asked to leave a performance of the musical “Beetlejuice” at a Denver theatre. The incident, which occurred during a night out with her date, Aspen bar owner Quinn Gallagher, was marked by allegations of disruptive behavior that included vaping, taking photos on her phone, and singing loudly, causing annoyance to other theatergoers.
The 36-year-old Boebert, who recently became a grandmother, was eventually escorted out of the Buell Theatre. Surveillance footage captured her making a scene, wearing a tight gold dress and high heels. She was seen taking a selfie as she left the auditorium and expressing her frustration towards the theater staff, even giving them the finger.
One theatergoer, a pregnant woman who sat behind Boebert, shared her account anonymously with The Denver Post. She claimed that Boebert refused to stop vaping, sang loudly with her hands in the air, blew vape smoke in her direction, kissed her date, and repeatedly recorded videos during the show. The woman also mentioned that she asked theater staff to move seats during intermission due to Boebert’s behavior, and she learned that there were other complaints about the congresswoman’s conduct.
The incident escalated when security officials received another complaint about Boebert and her companion being loud and recording the show. Despite warnings, Boebert and Gallagher reportedly refused to leave voluntarily, prompting ushers to threaten to call the Denver Police.
Outside the theater, surveillance footage captured Boebert and Gallagher walking through the streets of Denver, with Boebert’s initial frustration gradually giving way to a more carefree demeanor as she held her date’s hand and danced in the street.
The controversy surrounding Boebert’s behavior comes amid revelations that she and Gallagher have been secretly dating for several months. The relationship, which surprised some due to Gallagher’s apparent Democratic leanings, developed in the context of Boebert’s ongoing divorce from her husband of 18 years and father of her four children, Jason.
While Boebert downplayed her behavior at the theater in a social media post, describing it as simply enjoying the show and laughing and singing too loud, the incident has drawn criticism from various quarters. Some have questioned her conduct as a congresswoman, particularly in light of ongoing political issues and challenges facing her constituents.
Boebert has been a controversial figure in politics, with previous incidents involving firearms-related issues and disputes with Capitol Police. Her recent role as a grandmother has also garnered attention, as she herself became a mother as a teenager.
